BYE – BUILD YOUR ENGLISH

The BUILD YOUR ENGLISH project aims to improve the communication skills of the actors of the construction process, especially among young people at the beginning of their professional careers.

The "BUILD YOUR ENGLISH" idea

Globalization has highlighted the importance of communication between key actors of the construction sector. This became even more evident with the emergence of the European open labour market, and the fact that many European construction companies operate in foreign countries.

Developing the language skills of students, graduates of construction schools and construction workers enables the development of their professional skills and makes their daily work smoother.

The objectives of "BUILD YOUR ENGLISH"

• To create a suitable training methodology, including pictures, voice, animations and 3D graphics to support the use of the software
• To create a computer application/software, that enables users to self-learn technical English
• To improve technical English skills for communication in construction sites and everyday work
• To improve Health and Safety performance with improved communication between construction staff
• To improve labor mobility within the European Union

Intended impact:

• To support the learning of English in construction industry related schools
• To improve the skills of the labor force to use technical English
• To improve communication and health & safety between the actors of the construction industry
• To improve the quality of labour within countries of the EU

Target group of the project:

• Students of construction schools
• Construction workers
• English teachers
• Non-qualified workers who want to improve their technical English language skills

Specific results:

• Training methodology related to the use of multimedia materials
• Computer software for the self-learning of technical English
• Training guides, materials and tips

Indirect results include the improvement of the labor force in the short term, and the increase of the number of skilled workers employed in the sector in the medium and long term.
