PIME’S project in Szentendre succesfully organised its conference on 21 November 2013. In the new headquarter of ÉMI Non-profit Llc more than 100 participants could hear presentations about different sustainable retrofitting projects.
Firstly Dr. Károly Sárközi (CEO of ÉMI) and Dr. Ferenc Dietz (mayor of Szentendre) welcomed the audience and reflected on the importance of energy efficiency and the role of research and development projects in using local resources the best. Dr. Kinga Lorencz (EU FP7 - Energy NCP for Hungary, National Innovation Office) introduced the EU standards until 2020 in her presentation about Energy efficiency and renewable energy in HORIZON 2020. Mr. Ferenc Hizó (deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of National Development) talked about the National Energy Strategy for the Building Sector what is a detailed study about the condition of the buildings in Hungary and give useful recommendations about the ways of making them energy efficient.

As a break during these presentations there was the opportunity for the participants to visit the newly-built energy-efficient office building of ÉMI and to take a closer look of its heat center with the guidance of dr. Károly Matolcsy (local coordinator of PIMES Lajos Frey (project manager of ÉMI).
Lastly an interesting forum about Energy efficiency and renewable energy in cities closed the conference. In the forum dr Károly Matolcsy asked Dr. Ferenc Dietz (mayor of Szentendre/HU), Péter Puskás (vice-mayor of Óbuda/HU), László Csányi (vice-mayor of Mórahalom/HU), Ladislav Maťašovský (mayor of Galanta/SK), Iver Jan Leren (Rogeland County/NO), Alberto Ortiz de Elgea Olasolo (Vitoria-Gasteiz/ES) and Pasca Dorin (mayor of Baia Sprie/RO) about the future challenges and opportunities regarding energy efficiency.
